Fiat 500 595 50th Anniversary Edition
The Fiat 595 50th Anniversary Edition celebrates the original little car showcased at the 1963 Turin Motor Show. It features retro-inspired graphics and historic Abarth logos, equipped with 17-inch alloys and a flat-bottomed steering wheel with contrasting stitching. It’s 1.4-litre T-Jet engine produces 190bhp and production will be limited to 299cars – don’t expect to find any in our region though.

Honda’s hatch legend wants to give Renault’s ‘Ring record a black eye
Honda NSX
Badged ‘Honda’ rather than ‘Acura’, the NSX concept was pretty much the only ‘road car’ worth ogling on the Honda stand at Frankfurt, but frankly it was good enough to compensate for the rest of the very humdrum metal on show. It’s very sleek and sexy in the metal. My message to Honda: ‘you got one chance to redeem yourself with this car, don’t eff it up!’

Mini Shuttles!
My aching legs and sore feet can vouch for the fact that the Frankfurt Motor Show is monumentally vast! So big in fact that there are shuttle cars running around inside the grounds of the show to take visitors between the halls. Mostly these are manufacturer’s modern offerings, nearly all running quietly on hybrid power, but then there were these two cheeky little classic Minis buzzing about. The front passenger seat had been removed to let tired journalists jump in the rear and stretch out. Cool!

Subaru 360
Lovely to see this little thing tucked away around the back of the Subaru stand. This is the Subaru 360, the company’s first mass-produced which it claims is the pioneer of the ‘people’s car’ in Japan. Can you believe this is powered by just a 365cc two-cylinder engine producing about 15bhp. Thankfully it only weighs 385kg. Modern car-makers, for all their talk of lightweight vehicles, carbon-fibre this, and aluminium that, can just go suck an egg!
Subaru BRZ
By the way, this was the only ’86-esque’ car at the Frankfurt Show, on the Subaru stand. The massive Toyota stand just opposite this had only hybrids or race cars on it. No FT86 to be found. Is that telling? Hmm….

Didn’t think much of the crossover VIZIV concept, it was a bit meh. But boy that WRX concept does look the dogs doodahs! More on that here >>> http://motoringme.com/
