Well played Caterham, why take your own stand when you can simply launch your car on someone else’s?

After all, it is their engine under the bonnet!

So the new entry-level Seven is this 165 that’s powered by Suzuki’s 660cc engine and given a price of 25,000 Euro when it goes on sale in January.

You many not think a 660cc three-cylinder engine would be very interesting in a sporty car like this, especially as it only produces 80bhp even with a turbo!

It’s certainly not the Seven 485 launched earlier this year – the fastest, most powerful edition of the antiquated but still purest form of driving expression you can buy.

But these little road racers are awesome fun and really don’t need much power at all because of light weight – this one weighs just 490kg – and yes, that’s with a little more skin than shown in this neat cutaway show car.
