The UAE’s Ministry of Economy has ruled that mandatory servicing for automobiles is now every 10,000km, instead of the 5,000km intervals specified by some manufacturers.
Local daily Gulf News reported that the Higher Committee for Consumer Protection in Dubai made the decision “to ensure maximum consumer protection and market stability.”
The UAE’s car dealers have until the end of this year to switch to the new servicing regime, the Ministry added.
Currently, the 5,000km interval is employed by mainly Japanese and Asian marques; European manufacturers typically specify intervals of 15,000km, while American firms ask you to bring your car in for an inspection every 10,000km.
