Good news if you’re living in America: you can now buy factory-tuned off road packages for your Toyota that turn it into…well, not a Raptor, but something with definitely more fast-rough-stuff ability.

Designated ‘Toyota TRD Pro’, the packages are available for the Tacoma, 4Runner, and Tundra. As the eagle-eyed amongst you will immediately pipe up, none of those trucks are available in the GCC, nor are there any plans to bring them here any time soon, though the Tundra is widely available in the grey market: I’ve heard reports of as much as 50 being sold every week.

All the trucks get as standard remote-reservoir Bilstein shocks, tuned front springs, a stronger skid plate, ‘TOYOTA’ script badges for the front grille instead of logos, black wheels and er, floor mats and shift knobs.

Each suspension package is slightly different. For the Tundra, the springs are softer for better running on harsh surfaces, add 2” of lift at the front, 18” alloys with Michelin tyres, there’s a dual exhaust for more rorty-ness and TRD stamping on the rear quarter panel.

The Tacoma becomes..the Taco Supreme. Yes, that’s actually what they’re calling it. Again, 2” lift, softer springs, 16” beadlock-style (but not actual beadlock) wheels and an exhaust.

For the 4Runner, already a highly capable vehicle, the lift is slightly less at 1.5” (though it gains an inch in wheel travel), 17” alloys and unlike the others, no exhaust.

These trucks will likely never be sold in this region, but I’ve no doubt that you will be able to find them shortly in the Awir market (especially the Tundra).

If you get one, tell us what they’re like!

  1. Ironman says:

The Toyota 4-runner itself, not the TRD package, has a chance of making its way to the Gulf region…

That’s right, you heard it here first folks… X-P
