If there was a winner for ‘Most Wildly Ambitious Car” at this year’s Dubai Motor Show, the Devel Sixteen clearly wins hand down. Picture this – a supercar with a mind boggling 5000bhp that does 0-100kph in an impossible 1.8seconds on its way to a top speed of 560khph!
Or rather…they’re saying it will do those figures. Someday. When the car gets built. If it gets built. Right now this is just a concept car they’ve built for the show and no one has done an actual road test of it yet to see if it can do those figures, nor do we know who makes that concept engine or who came up with the outrageous design, the front being patterned after a traditionally hunting falcon, apparently. The show car is massive – about roughly the same size as a Raptor – but the final Devel will be sized small enough to ‘fit in a mall parking space’ according to one of the stand representatives.
Sounds mad but you never know…this is Dubai after all. They said we couldn’t build the world’s tallest building and now the Dubai Motor Show rests in its shadow. “Impossible”? Not a word for Dubai.

I think it severely hurts your credibility if you even consider something like this plausible. Wheels can’t handle those speeds, car looks like it’s made out of plastic and the guys making it sound like kids whose parents gave them a lot of money.
[Imthishan] Personal opinion, but I think it’s jolly easy to look down on something like this and sneer about the ridiculousness of their claims. Yes, it’s very unlikely that they’ll be able to pull it off but at the very least they’re trying to do something different and make something of their own in a region known for conspicuous consumption – isn’t the effort worth applauding?
@saad lambe…fyi, the original Bugatti Veyron at full bore will melt a set of tires before it runs out of gas. also, at full bore, the veyron only has 12 minutes worth of fuel in its 26gal tank. so your right there aren’t wheels to handle that but that just isn’t a viable reason to knock the company’s credibility. there have been approx. 15 variants of the Veyron and most have more than the 1001hp of the original. what could ruin the company’s cred is the 0-60 time of 1.8sec. but as a concept there is no real expectation for the performance number to be accurate.
Dear Auto-maker,
Its said, if you need to dream then dream big and the out-come will be in accordance to it. I think its an incredible concept to have a power house of 5000 bhp. And yes, anything is possible, its will just be conceived later. The Star-Trek communicator is a widely used reality of today. So buck-up Devel.
