Cheaper, nearly-as-quick WRX finally makes UAE bow

Subaru WRX

Subaru’s WRX is now available at local UAE dealer Al Khoory Automobiles, with prices starting at AED125,000 for the CVT-equipped model. Manual versions of the saloon – now available with a 268bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged version of the four-cylinder boxer engine from the Toyota 86 – will arrive in stock after the summer. Prices for the manual, we’re told, will be slightly cheaper than the CVT version.

Also still available is the legendary STi, still sporting the 2.5-litre ‘EJ’ 310bhp unit. Initially available at a rather lofty AED195,000, Al Khoory is currently running an offer which sees prices drop to AED165,000. Also available in World Rally Blue, the only colour you should honestly be allowed to buy a Subaru.

We’re big fans of these pocket rockets here at MME. Although the Impreza-Evo war has drawn to a close – Mitsubishi has ceased production of the Evo, or indeed, any interesting cars at all – we’ve still yet to drive one. Hopefully, the local dealer will see fit to sort us out with a test drive soon, so we can tell you if the latest Impreza lives up to its reputation.
