Stop The Presses: Is this the Toyota FT86?

Leaked scans may finally reveal long-awaited pocket sportscar

These brochure scans show what could be the most anticipated sportscar of the year. Interior shots, after the jump.

Website FT86 club has got its sweaty little hands on a brochure of the Toyota FT86. If the car in question looks a bit tarted up, your eyes aren’t deceiving you; this is a Modellista special, from Toyota’s inhouse tapes-and-tyres outfit. Ignore the bling wheels, groundhugging bodykit though and you have a car that for all intents and purposes is the production one. It’s certainly a stumpy looking thing with stocky proportions reminscent of the good-but-unloved Zelas, but that kabuki-mask face is going to be the bit that people clock face, and it’s the one bit that Toyota’s absolutely got right.

The interior is…well, it’s an interior. Like the LFA-influenced dials, super stubby gearshifter, like the super aggressively contoured bucket seats. Not so likey the Start button down by your knees, or the 911-esque steering wheel. Remember though – this car is a giant canvas, for whatever gonzo creation your mind can imagine – so the interior is meant to be simple, and easily replaced. Not that you’ll mind, if it drives even half as good as Toyotas of yore.

We can’t wait.
