Quite simply the Tesla Roadster is an all-electric sports car based on the Lotus Elise. It has 185 kW electric motor producing the equivalent of 248bhp and the 53kWh lithium-ion battery gives it a range of nearly around 350km after charging for about three and half hours.
Astonishingly it will hit 100kph from rest in under 4 seconds, so it’s clearly got the looks to go with the performance. The price in the US is a rather steep $109,000, but you can actually rent one of these right here in Dubai for AED3700 a day.

But if you’re just curious about trying an all-electric car, how about renting the Nissan Leaf (AED440 a day) and if you’re worried about running out of power, try the Chevrolet Volt for AED700 a day which features a range-extended engine that recharges the battery through a generator.
