POGEA Racing 1959 Corvette

Classic beauty gets new guts

We just had to post these gorgeous pictures. Here are the details…

It looks like a 1959 Chevrolet Corvette, but this is a brand new car. POGEA Racing makes the tube frame in cooperation with Foose Design in the USA with improved torsional stiffness for the roadster. To this is fitted height-adjustable coilover suspension and a modern brake system.

Under the bonnet is an LS3 Corvette engine from 2011 fitted with LS7 fuel injectors, revised camshafts, open intake, Edelbrock exhaust manifolds and stainless steel exhaust. Now the 6.2-litre V8 produces 485bhp at 4400rpm and 431lb ft at 6200rpm through a manual 5-speed gearbox.

Performance is stunning – 0-100kph in 3.9seconds with a top speed of 288kph.
There are POGEA Racing wheels – 18 inch on the front and 19 on the back – so glad they didn’t go for 20 and above sizes. The rear is wider thanks to 305/30 R19 tyres.

Inside it’s well appointed with leather upholstery and a Vallelunga steering wheel. There’s also an Alpine Multi-Media system with sat-nav, a retro-fitted A/C unit, servo-assisted steering and so forth…

It’s priced at EURO 225,000 including tax ($296,000). Details from www.pogea-racing.com
