Nissan GT-R NISMO GT1 for auction in Abu Dhabi

JRM Racing is offering a once in a lifetime opportunity to purchase the last two remaining Nissan GT-R NISMO GT1 race cars in a charity auction to be held on UAE National Day in Abu Dhabi – and for charity.

The rare, official NISMO-built, Nissan GT-Rs will go under the hammer on 2nd December with a reserve price of $1m each, with 10% of the sales proceeds going to a charity of the buyer’s choice.

In 2010 the JRM Racing team scored two outright victories, eight podium finishes and won the coveted RAC Tourist Trophy, the oldest perpetual award in motorsport history with these cars.

During the 2011 season the JRM GT-Rs earned a total of five race wins, 14 podium finishes, five fastest laps with the team winning the Tourist Trophy for the second year in a row, and Michael Krumm and Lucas Luhr emerged from the tenth and final round as FIA GT1 World Champions.

With changes in the championship regulations coming into force for 2012, it transpired that only GT3 specification cars would be eligible to contest this year’s FIA GT1 World Championship and therefore, the two JRM Nissan GT-Rs would not be seen competing again.

Both cars have since been completely rebuilt at JRM’s technical facility in South East England and are now meticulously prepared to race specification.

The cars will be put on display in the Al Masaood Automobiles flagship Nissan showroom in Khalidiya area, where they can be viewed throughout November.

Prospective buyers and VIP guests will be invited to attend an exclusive introduction event at the dealership on Monday 12th November 2012, This will include a presentation and a chance to take a close look at the cars.

A further invitation will be extended to attend the auction night itself on Sunday 2nd December, when last-minute bids will be accepted and the lucky new owners of the cars will be revealed.

“We are delighted to offer the opportunity for a private collector or enthusiast to purchase these two very special cars that have made their mark in motorsport history”, said JRM Group CEO James Rumsey.

“As we are no longer able to race these Nissan GT-Rs in the GT1 World Championship, we would like to see them become part of a private collection and kept for posterity.

“It is no coincidence that we have decided to hold this sale in Abu Dhabi, as the first rounds of the GT1 World Championship in both 2010 and 2011 took place at Yas Marina Circuit. Therefore, the region holds some great memories for us.”

The sale will be conducted as a ‘silent’ auction, with sealed bids made confidentially from 2nd November until 2nd December. The winning bids will be accepted at the Al Masaood Automobiles premises at 6.00pm on 2nd December.
