التجمع 13 لموتورينج ميدل إيست

Well over 300 cars gathered on Friday 22nd of March, 2013 in Dubai Festival City for Motoring Middle East’s 13th edition of The Meet. The event, which ran from 10am to 10pm, has seen some of the greatest collection of cool cars in the UAE. Those cars ranged from exotics to modified hatchbacks, with everything in between like muscle cars, Japanese and German performance cars, SUVs, and even a special spot for classics.

شهد يوم الجمعة الموافق 22 من مارس 2013 تجمع أكثر من 300 سيارة في دبي فستيفال سيتي في ما بات يعرف بـ”ملتقى السيارات” في نسخته الثالثة عشر. الملتقى الذي ينظمه موقع موتورينج ميدل إيست، والذي استمر لإثني عشر ساعة من العاشرة صباحا إلى العاشرة مساء، شهد تجمع العديد من السيارات من مختلف الفئات، فبدءاً من سيارات الهاتشباك الصغيرة إلى السيارات الفارهة والنادرة وكل فئة أخرى بينهما، كسيارات العضلات الأمريكية وسيارات الأداء العالي سواء اليابانية أو الألمانية، وكذلك الدفع الرباعي، وقسم خاص للسيارات الكلاسيكية

However, and due to the growing popularity of the event, cars in attendance didn’t just have the local number plates, but there were also some cool owners who came from neighboring countries like Bahrain, Saudi, and Qatar to show off their rides and share the passion with fellow petrol heads. A spirited presence was recorded for the car clubs, namely the Mustang, Camaro, 86/BRZ and Mini Clubs in the UAE.

جدير بالذكر أن الحضور لم يكن حكراً على السيارات المسجلة في الإمارات، فقد كان هناك بعض الإخوة الذين أثروا التجمع بحضورهم ومشارتهم بسياراتهم من الدول المجاورة كالسعودية وقطر والبحرين. كما وتميز حضور بعض نوادي ملّاك السيارات في الإمارات كنادي موستانج وكامارو وتويوتا 86 وشقيقتها بي أر زد وكذلك الميني

The cars displayed were arranged according to theses following categories: American, European, Japanese, Classics, Exotics, SUVs, Trucks, and Modified cars. Additionally, the event hosted a Show ’n’ Shine competition to determine the car that pulled the best show in its respective category, as well as an all-around best car. The winning vehicle would be determined by the highest number of votes recorded by the show attendees through SMS.

تم تنظيم السيارات المشاركة وعرضها بما يتناسب وفئتها، فكانت الأمريكية في جهة، واليابانية في أخرى، وكذلك الأمر بالنسبة للألمانية والدفع الرباعي والمعدلة والفارهة والشاحنات. هذا وشهد التجمع أيضا مسابقة لأفضل سيارة في كل فئة وأفضل سيارة في العرض ككل، وكان الاختيار بيد الحضور عن طريق التصويت بالرسائل النصية

As Toyota UAE was a main sponsor for the show, they offered a number of great features including a test for the latest Land Cruiser and chance to win a Drift Experience riding along with one of the UAE’s drifting team on Yas Marina Circuit, as well as a showcase for some of their latest models. Other car dealers showed up their latest metal too, including Ford and Mercedes-Benz. Ford displayed their new Focus, Mustang Roush, Raptor truck, Explorer, and Edge. On the other hand, Mercedes displayed their new A-Class and took appointments for test drives.

وبما أن لتويوتا الإمارات الريادة في رعاية هذا الحدث، فقد وفروا عددا من الفعاليات كتجربة قيادة اللاندكروزر الجديدة وعرض بعض من أحدث موديلات تويوتا وكذلك فرصة الفوز بتجربة الركوب مع أحد سائقي فريق الإمارات لسباقات الدرفت في جولة حماسية على حلبة مرسى ياس. كما ولم تفوت أيضا فورد ومرسيدس حضور الحدث، فقد عرضت فورد أحدث طرازاتها من فوكاس وإيدج وإكسبلورر وراوش موستانغ وكذلك الرابتور، بينما عرضت مرسيدس جديدتها أيه-كلاس الصغيرة واستقبلت الحجوزات لتجربة قيادتها

Speaking of the test drives, it would have been really great if the dealers would have enabled a driving experience within The Meet. Personally, though I am more of a muscle car kind of guy, the interior of the aforementioned A-Class looked so driver-focused and inviting to test (what I imagine) is its kart-like handling credentials. Points for taking test drive appointments, but that won’t guarantee people would actually show up. Better take full benefit of those crowds dedicating all those hours to the event and get them to drive your new cars. It could prove a deal closure for some! And the same could go for Toyota and Ford. Just imagine a sandy off-road track on one corner of the Meet’s area with the Raptor bashing through it, and a Land Cruiser on another track on the other corner (with the emphasis on driving, rather than being driven in them…).

وبمناسبة الحديث عن تجارب القيادة، فكم كان ليكون من الممتع والمجدي أيضا لو أن مرسيدس قرروا توفير هذه التجارب من خلال الحدث، فالعديد من الحضور قد فرغوا أنفسهم لحضور التجمع وهذا ما قد لا ينطبق في حالة تجارب القيادة التي ستحددها مرسيدس لمن سجلوا اهتمامهم بالسيارة. بالنسبة لي كانت مقصورة صغيرة مرسيدس الجديدة ترحب بالسائق ومركزة حوله، مما جعلنا أتخيل فحسب أن قيادتها ستكون أشبه بالكارت. والأمر نفسه ينطبق على فورد وتويوتا، تخيلوا معي ساحة التجمع وقد أعدت فورد حلبة رملية في إحدى زواياها لقيادة الرابتور، بينما في الزاوية الأخرى تويوتا أعدت حلبة أخرى لقيادة اللاندكروزر (وليس للجلوس بجانب من يقودها…)

On the plus side, the event was highly organized in terms of cars admission and convenience of location with beverages and refreshments outlets being located on site.

ولكن بالطبع الحدث كان عالي التنظيم من حيث استقبال السيارات وصفها في الأماكن المناسبة، كما ولعب توفر الأكشاك التي تبيع المرطبات والوجبات الخفيفة دورا هاماً لخدمة الزوار الذين قضوا هذه الساعات في موقع الحدث

Overall, it was another great motoring event by the guys at Motoring Middle East that offered a great place for petrol heads to meet, socialize, and show their pride machines in a highly passionate and safe atmosphere.

بشكل عام، قام الشباب في موتورينج ميدل إيست بتنظيم حدث ناجح آخر يضاف لسلسلة الأحداث الناجحة التي عهدناها من هذا الفريق، حيث جمع هذا التجمع عشاق السيارات في مكان واحد ليلتقوا ويتبادلوا الخبرات ويعرضوا سياراتهم والتي تشكل مصدر فخر لهم في جو آمن لا تنقصه الحماسة

We’ve counted and recounted all the SMS votes for the Show ‘n Shine competition at the Meet. Every car on display had a special code related to its category and visitors texted in the codes for their favourite cars. For sure there was some coercion, encouraging of mates to SMS and more than a little redialling going on – but all’s fair in Show ‘n Shine 😉
