The controversial sport-luxury SUV concept from Maserati, the Kubang, will be landing at the Dubai Motor Show to gauge reaction to the legendary Italian marque’s potential first foray into the off-roader world.

Also on the Ferrari/Al Tayer stand will be highly fashionable GranCabrio Fendi and the take-no-prisoners GranTurismo MC Trofeo race car – which is on display just days before the one-make Maserati Trofeo JBF RAK race series.

The Kubang only had its international debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show two months ago and marries the style and heart of Maserati (yes the engine will come from Italy) with the off-roading know-how of Jeep as this car is mechanically based on the excellent Grand Cherokee. The manufacturer promises that this SUV heralds sporty performance and a luxury atmosphere.

The Fendi GranCabrio is a tie-up with the Italian fashion house and features a three-layered body paint-job dubbed Grigio Fiamma Fendi – a dark grey with iridescent golden finish on the surface (definitely worth a look-see). The interior wood trim (Pergamena Fendi) features on the dash, doors on and gear lever in Fendi yellow.

The Maserati Trofeo one-make series kicks off in the Middle East this year, and they have one of the race cars on the stand. It’s a 12-race programme for gentlemen drivers racing in UAE, Bahrain and Qatar.
