The Boss is in town and we had to go check it out at Al Tayer’s

We’d been tipped off by a reader, but still couldn’t believe it till we’d seen it without our own eyes. There is a Boss 302 Mustang on display right now at the Al Tayer Motors Ford showroom on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai.

It’s priced at AED200,000 ($54,450) is one of just FOUR that will be made available here for the 2013 model year – which is actually the last year of the limited edition Boss 302.

The Boss of course is based on the 5.0 GT with a tuned engine taking horsepower up to 444bhp (an increase of 32bhp) with torque at 380lb ft.

It only comes with a six-speed manual transmission (short throw change) with limited slip differential and a quad exhaust with two pipes coming out the side and two at the back – the side pipes send the exhaust through ‘Attenuation’ discs for more ‘growl’!

There’s stiffer suspension and the body is lowered by 11mm, plus the shocks are adjustable. The traction and stability controls have been altered, and it comes with 19-inch black alloy wheels, Brembo brakes and an aero package from the Boss 302R race car.

The UAE cars will come with warranty and the fabled ‘TracKey’ which has to be activated by Ford and when used instead of the regular key, puts the car into TracMode tweaking power delivery and allowing access to launch control.

The 2013 Shelby Mustang GT500 wasn’t on display (that’s a 2012 model in the background priced from AED260,000) but it is officially on sale now priced at AED300,000 with 10 cars already delivered and running around the UAE streets.
