The Fun Drive Heats Up, Literally

This year’s Fun Drive took place at Liwa, which as most offroad enthusiasts here will know is some of the harshest terrain available in the UAE. With over 600 cars in attendance, something’s inevitably bound to go wrong, despite the best efforts of the most experienced marshalls in the country. This year, ill luck befell this Dodge Nitro.
Once that bonnet caught fire, its fate was written in the sands.
Everyone sensibly pulled back to a safe distance.
In a few hours, this was all that’s left.
….which is not to say that the Fun Drive continued to proceed without incident. Here’s a *marshall* helpfully stuck in a bowl.
Look at the size of those dunes! Liwa is not for the faint of heart, or people with vertigo.
Nevertheless, our man Laurie Bridger, owner of the left Jeep reports that while typically chaotic, the event was great fun as always.
