Toyota have revealed the restyle Tundra truck at the Chicago car show. There’s an all-new front design that integrates the hood and grille for a tougher more aggressive look with a more imposing face. The chrome grille is taller and bolder.
The fenders and wheel wells have been squared-off to give the pick-up a broader and sturdier stance. There’s an integrated spoiler in the tailgate and both front and rear bumpers are three-piece items now.
There’s a revised interior too with easier driver reach for the audio controls, though larger knobs are retained for those wearing gloves. There’s new front and rear seats and better front seat ventilation. The front pews also go back further, and CrewMax rear seats are foldable.
The all-new instrument panel is said to be more rugged with clearer information displays. There’s more storage areas plus padded surfaces and the stitching is better for higher grades. Both Double Cab and CrewMax will be available with a bench or bucket seats for the front row.
Improvements have also been made to the suspension and the steering and cabin noise has been reduced. Three engine options remain including a 4.0 V6 with 270bhp, a 4.6-litre V8 with 310bhp and the one you all want – a 5.7-litre V8 producing 381bhp.
18-inch wheels are standard, 20s are available. Although officially the Tundra is not sold here, but it’s a hugely popular and these will almost certain start appearing at a grey import market near you very soon!
