Drift UAE 2013-2014 Round 3 Report

Ahmad Daham from Jordan took everyone by surprise last weekend by taking the top step of the podium in the PRO Drift category at Round 3 of Drift UAE held at Umm Al Quwain Motorplex last weekend.
He was quick straight out of the box in his beautiful Tensai Tuning Silvia S15. I had watched his first run during practice the previous day as he attacked what was actually a very tricky, technical and tight course with style and flourish.
UAE-favourite Ahmed Al Amri of the Toyota Emirates Drift Team was equally as impressive on his first run in the 86, and considering that Daham didn’t have as much experience of ‘Twin-Drift’ battling, everyone widely expected Al Amri to runaway with the evening’s spoils.
Come race day, a sensational battle between the two saw Daham just edged out Al Amri and grab a place in the finals against Jihad Hassan in his JH Racing Silvia S14. Once again Daham showed incredible talent and nerve to take the win over the experienced Hassan.
There was more excellent drifting in the Semi-Pro and Street categories including crowd favourite Ahmad Al-Romaithy in his new and entirely stock BMW M5. He took a deserved third place in the Street Category.
Another scene-stealing BMW was Ahmed Allou’s Q66 Drift Team BMW E36 from Qatar. Utterly cool and totally smoking with flashing police lights it was huge fun to watch. He took second place in the Semi-Pro category.
Next round is March 21st at the Dubai Autodrome.
