C’mon, you didn’t really think they were going to stop with the Challenger, did you?

Behold, the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, the most powerful production saloon in the world…when it goes into production that is.

This thing is ballistically fast and it’s got the stats to prove it. A top speed of 328kph (204mph), 0-60mph in 3.7 seconds, the quarter mile done in 11 seconds (so 10s on drag radials then…) and all thanks to that same 6.2-litre supercharged V8. Good for 707bhp and 650lb ft of torque, in the Charger it’s available exclusively with the brilliant ZF eight-speed auto, the Viper-sourced manual Tremec six-speed staying with the Challenger for now. Stopping power comes from the biggest front Brembos ever: 15.4 inches!

As with the Chally, it’s got red and black keyfobs, the red holding all the horses and the black locking it down to 500. Nothing in the segment even comes close – not the M5 (560bhp), not the E63 (549bhp) and not even the mighty Audi RS6 (560bhp). Quite literally, the mighty Dodge is in a class of its own.

All that’s left now to pressure your local dealer so that we get it in the GCC!

    Random thought – I wonder how this would do against the forthcoming S65 AMG in a drag race. The Hellcat has more horsepower but the V12 has nearly 100lb/ft of torque.

      True enough Jason, but the thing is that the S65 AMG will feel really out of place on a drag strip, whereas the Charger Hellcat will feel right at home. The only place I can think of where the S65 AMG will feel at home is parked in the valet of the Burj Al Arab between the Phantom and the Mulsanne.

      They’re both brilliant machines, but in very different ways, as evidenced by their very different natural habitats. And then there will be the matter of the price tags. Unless I’m badly mistaken, the final pricing details haven’t been released for either car, but I think we both know which one will be relatively more affordable and, consequently, more fun to take to the local track/drag strip. In my books, the Charger Hellcat has definitely replaced the Audi RS6 as the best saloon in the world.
