Rolls-Royce at this year’s Dubai International Motor Show will feature a bonnet ornament wearing a near million-dirham diamond gown!

This year has been centenary year for Rolls-Royce, and is it winds down its 100th anniversary celebrations, it aims to end with a flourish at the Dubai International Motor Show next month (10-14 November) by dressing up its iconic mascot in the most expensive dress ever.

The Flying Lady statute will be clad in 2300 diamonds and worth an estimated AED 900,000 or $250,000.

The Diamond Encrusted Spirit of Ecstasy is the result of collaboration between Mouawad and Rolls-Royce. The 100 year old diamond expert and royal jeweler has used round brilliant cut diamonds of the G color VS Clarity type. It took three craftsmen over 350 hours laying 38.53 carats of diamonds in pavé.

On the occasion of the reveal, James Crichton, Regional Director of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Middle East & Africa said “The treatment Mouawad has bestowed on our cherished mascot highlights the importance the Flying Lady holds with Rolls-Royce connoisseurs. The use of diamonds also embodies the strength of the brand as it is now going through an unprecedented period of growth.”

The only question remains is how well guarded will this little lady be at the show? And has Interpol noticed any sudden increased advance flight bookings to Dubai in November by known international diamond thieves!
