2014 Paris Auto Show – 2015 Honda Civic Type R
276bhp from Type R claimed to be better than all previous Hondas – including NSX Type R. Now the bad news…
By Shahzad Sheikh
I drove this thing at the end of last year, briefly on an oval track, and it was fast, but Honda is making some tall claims for this all-new Civic Type R set to be launched next year.
But before we get into all of that – here’s some terrible news for you: we are not likely to be getting the 2015 Honda Civic Type R in the Middle East.
So if you still want to read about a car you can’t have?
- Turbocharged 2.0-litre i-VTEC producing more than 280PS – so we’re talking 280-285bhp. Redline at 7000rpm.
- Six-speed manual transmission only – yes, manual, Thank God.
- New ‘+R’ button on the side of steering wheel increases engine response with more aggressive torque delivery, with sharper steering
- New four-point Adaptive Damper System automatically adjusts front and rear suspension damping stiffness instantly
- Steer Axis – front suspension incluidng two supporting ‘kingpins’ which work to minimise torque steer
- Will be built in Swindon, UK.
