2014 Middle East best cars to be revealed 25 Nov
Middle East Motor Awards (MEMA) winners will be announced ahead of the Sharjah Motor Show
By Shahzad Sheikh
The fifth annual Middle East Motor Awards (MEMA) will be announced at a ceremony on the evening of 25th November ahead of the Sharjah Motor Show (26-29 Nov), and we’ll bring you live results as they are announced.
More than that, I’m on the jury panel of 19 ‘distinguished and well respected journalists’ from automotive media across the region, who will independently vote on and help select this year’s award-winning cars.
In order to vote for them, the judges must have driven each car, and if the car receives votes from less than 70% of the judges it will be excluded. Which doesn’t bode well for some manufacturers because looking at the 85 cars thus far nominated, I’ve only driven about 55% of them, and there’s now less than two months left before voting closes!
To be nominated for the awards the cars must be launched and on sale in at least five Middle East countries between 1st November 2013 and 31st October 2014. They must either be all-new cars or significant facelifts or revised models to qualify.
MEMA is organised and run by Expo Centre Sharjah with the support of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and you can find out more about them on the website www.MiddleEastMotorAwards.com
