2014 Hyundai Elantra Available in UAE
New year updates for Hyundai’s classy compact
By Imthishan Giado
Showing that Koreans understand the Japanese system of constant improvement only too well, Hyundai’s provided a midlife update for its rather pleasant-looking Elantra. Always my preferred choice compared to its slightly blockier Cerato cousin, the updated Elantra has received a new front end with an updated grille, fog lights and HID headlamps with – what else – LED trim around the edges.
Inside, the instrument cluster receives a 3.4″ OLED cluster while the main console has been rejigged slightly with the A/C vents moving from their odd chest-high position to being more traditionally mounted on top. Also in the glove box: a chilled area to keep your Fanta warm on those long journeys through the Empty Quarter. New to the Elantra this year is a 7″ navigation system, ventilated front seats and optionally, full climate control. Even base cars get a mono TFT LCD; higher trims get a 4.3″ screen with reversing camera. Crikey, is this supposed to be an economy car?
Three engines are on offer: 164ps 2.0-litre, a 150ps 1.8-litre and a base 130ps 1.6-litre engine. For added fiddliness you get three probably-pointless steering modes and six new colours. But everyone’ll buy white and silver regardless.
Prices start from AED56,000; the Elantra will be available from mid-January.
Hi, I am planning for the elantra 2L. The dealers in fujairah are unaware of the model with this engine. Could you please let me know when this car will be launched in UAE. I suppose it has been already launched in US.
thanks..
