2014 Detroit Auto Show: Audi Allroad Shooting Brake concept
New concept from Audi previews future tech and design
By Shahzad Sheikh
Audi has combined if it’s Allroad off-roading style with the e-tron hybrid technology for this show car, the Allroad Shooting Brake, to debut at the Detroit Auto Show today.
It claims to incorporate a ‘host of design elements that define the brand’s future design values’ – we take this to mean you can see hints of the next Audi TT in this car.
If features two electric motors and a 2.0 TFSI producing 290bhp – giving a total of over 400bhp, resulting in a claimed 0-100kph time of 4.6 seconds and a limited top speed of 250kph, but a barely believeable 1.9L/100km fuel consumption! To keep the weight down the body of the Shooting Brake is made of a mix of aluminium and carbon fibre reinforced polymer.
One interesting feature inside is that the centre console moves as you adjust the seat forwards or backwards so that the selector lever and MMI interface always remain the same distance from the driver.
This car is not likely to be put into production, but expect to see the design elements and technology make it’s way into the Audis you can buy very soon.
