2014 Paris Auto Show – Ferrari Speciale A
Spider version of the hard core 458 Speciale from Ferrari
By Shahzad Sheikh
Remember the striking Ferrari 458 Speciale? Well you would if you visited the Dubai Motor Show last year, it was one of the stars of the stand.
Well now it has a raunchier new sister, the Ferrari Speciale A. Why raunchy? Because she’s only gone and ripped her top off! Oo Er!!!
This is the Spider version – dubbed A to denote Aperta which is Italian for ‘Open’.
Only 499 of these will be made, and at 600bhp and 398lb ft of torque, from its 4.5-litre V8, it’s the most powerful Spider from the Prancing Horse.
The aluminium retractable hard top takes only 14 seconds to fold away, but hold on to your toupes as it blasts to 100kph in 3.0sec. Same as the Speciale as it only weighs 50kg more.
There’s better aero, more rigid chassis and Side Slip Angle Control (SSC). It’ll be shown in triple-layer yellow livery with Blu Nart and Bianco Avus central stripe along with five-spoke forged wheels in Grigio Corsa.
Inside there’s carbon fibre trim and newly designed seats in Alcantara. Plus with the roof down, you really get to enjoy the sound of that V8!
