This weekend, we’ll be reporting live(ish) from the Jeep Jamboree, at the wheel of the new Wrangler Unlimited, kitted out with the mega-awesome new 280bhp V6. It’s going to be loads of fun (what, you haven’t signed up already?) but it won’t look anything as stylish as these two concepts unveiled at the Paris Boat Show.
Done by French design studio Style & Design, they’re what would happen in some crazy alternate reality if a French fashion house got hold of the ancient Wrangler and decided to give it a damn good thrashing with the haute couture stick. The white one in influenced by sailboats – so you get plenty of white leather interior trim and shiny, shiny chrome everywhere.
The black car is meant to evoke yachts, so there’s chunks of dead tree influencing the interior design, with a teak deck over the rear hatch and wooden trim pieces livening up the traditionally austere cabin.
OK, looking like this none of these cars can go offroad ever again. But you have to admit, this is the first time in history that a Wrangler wouldn’t look out of place parked in front of a swanky hotel and for that, toffee nosed Frenchmen, we salute you.
