BMW has revealed pictures of the M versions of the 6-series Coupe and Convertible. The M6 Coupe features a contoured roof made from carbon fibre and the convertible has a canvas top with ‘fin’ architecture.

Both cars obviously have a high-revving 4.4-litre V8 with ‘M TwinPower Turbo Technology, consisting of Twin Scroll Twin Turbo technology’ according to the release – that’s a lot of ‘twins’ for these ‘twins’!

Plus: ‘cross-bank exhaust manifold, High Precision Direct Petrol Injection and VALVETRONIC fully variable valve control,’ which will all give 560bhp at 6000-7000rpm and 502lb ft of torque from 1500-7200rpm – 10% higher power than previous models, whilst torque is up 30%.

That will deliver big speed of course – 0-100kph is 4.2seconds for the Coupe and 4.3 for the Convertible, with 0-200kph in 12.6 and 13.1 respectively. Top speed is limited to 250kph, but get the ‘M Driver’s Package’ and it’s 305kph. And if you’re interested fuel consumption is 9.9 and 10.3L/100km – 30% better.

There’s a seven-speed M Double Clutch transmission with Drivelogic, plus launch control and a bespoke M gear selector as well as paddleshifts, driving the rear wheels through the Active M Differential.

For handling there’s M-specific Dynamic Damper Control as standard; DSC stability control incl. M Dynamic Mode; M Servotronic steering and M carbon-ceramic brakes.

The M cars feature new bumpers, flared wheel arches and big vents, plus a revised grille, rear diffuser and a side skirts as well as LED headlights, plus quad exhausts and 19-inch wheels with 20s optional.

Inside there’s suitably plush trim and fittings with Bang & Olufsen audio, head-up display, Night Vision and internet-connected infotainment with Facebook and Twitter.
