Subaru XV – the ‘Not Impreza’ For Families
The Qashqai for people who like rallying
by Imthishan Giado
Hidden in the back near the tuners and the tyre people, Subaru’s launched an all new crossover at its stand. That it resolutely claims is not a Subaru Outback in drag. Price and the bum shot after the jump.
Quite an interesting departure for Subaru. Here’s a car that’s not turbocharged, not four wheel drive and not even blue!
But what it is, is quite smart to look at with chunky mini-SUV lines, fab alloys and – gasp! – a decent interior that doesn’t look like it was made of old egg cartons.
Don’t expect to be paying too much either; the XV is a Nissan Qashqai rivalling 80k in basic form, with the top model grabbing AED95,000 of your hard earned cash. Under the hood, there’s a 2.0-litre boxer four cylinder that makes some no doubt uninteresting amount of horsepower hooked up to a snore tastic CVT gearbox. Not a truck for the enthusiast, but as a cheap runabout, you could surely do a lot worse.
