Hennessey Corvette Breaks 200MPH barrier
Texas tuner claims first C7 to break the magic 200mph mark…on a public road! `

They don’t do small in Texas. Big burgers, big steaks, big trucks and now…big speed. Noted son of the Lone Star State John Hennessey, he of the many horsepowers has claimed first blood in the C7 Corvette big-bhp wars, cracking the magic 200mph barrier on a closed section of Texas State Highway 99.
The ‘test’ was actually of a new RFID toll system – which nabbed him even at 200mph, toll dodgers – but let’s be honest, it was really an excuse for him to test his HPE600 package. The latter boosts the ‘Vette from a factory 460bhp to nearly 700bhp, courtesy of long tube headers, ported cylinder heads, high-flow cats, HPE camshaft and HPE-specific tuning). All that is necessary to punch the Vette from 180mph to that 200mph- oh, and he also had 100-hp shot of nitrous. Just in case.
Incredibly, this is not the most extreme C7 Vette Hennessey makes. That honour will be reserved for the mad, bad HPE700 supercharged version..you might want to get out of that one’s way if you see it coming on the highway!
