Frankfurt 2013: Smart FourJoy
So happy it shed its roof, its doors and its windows
By Shahzad Sheikh
This ain’t gonna go down well here. The a/c will be useless as this thing has no doors, windows or roof!
This is the Smart FourJoy. Remember the Smart FourFor? Well don’t, forget it. This isn’t that.
It’s supposed to herald a new generation of Smart cars, which can’t be that smart if they haven’t got any insulation – and that goes for Europe as much as it does here!
There are supposed to be some similarities to the now staid-looking (am I the only one who thinks that) regular Smart ForTwo in its polished aluminium and white pearlescent paintwork.
I’m not seeing it though, apart from the fact that it looks as stupid as the original Smart does.
There’s an electric motor in the back which, when it runs out of juice, takes about seven hours to recharge. But that’s okay, because there are two skateboards stuck on the roof to get you home – hope you got good balance!
