2012 Ford Focus now in showrooms

Five-door, four-door saloon and estate now on sale

Ford has sold 10 million of them since it was launched in 1998, and the latest generation Focus has gone on sale in the GCC. For a practical family car, it’s adopted a sleeker and sportier design.

Ford is claiming class-leading fuel economy, but more significantly, some premium car kit in this mass seller including Active Park Assist and Torque Vectoring Control (most commonly seen on Porsches) which improves cornering.

Set to sell in over 120 markets, created from the new global C segment platform and will underpin ten vehicles around the world accounting for two million units in 2012. The Middle East version will be built in Ford’s plant in Saarlouis in Germany.

At 1,484mm high, 4,358mm long and 1,823mm wide (without mirrors), the new 5-Door model is 16mm lower, 21mm longer and 16mm narrower than the current European Focus. Its wheelbase is 8mm longer at 2,648mm.

The Focus comes with the 1.6L Duratec Ti-VCT and the 2.0L Duratec Ti-VCT engines, paired with 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions.
