New Cayenne GTS

Putting the ‘Sports’ into ‘Sports Utility Vehicle’

Here’s the new Cayenne GTS that will debut at Auto China 2012, Beijing later this month. There’s a more powerful engine; more dynamic power development; a tauter chassis with lower ride height and sports trim.

However Porsche claims that the GTS doesn’t ‘fill the gap between the Cayenne S and the Cayenne Turbo, but stands out from the other models with its own special character’ – actually it does sit between those cars.

It gets an extra 25bhp over the S with an output of 420bhp from its V8 mated to the usual eight-speed Tiptronic S. It sprints to 100kph in 5.7 seconds (5.9 for the S) reaching 160kph in 13.3 seconds and going on to 261kph (257kph for S). And yet it’s claim, fuel economy is 10.7L/100km.

The GTS gets the front from the Turbo edition and high-gloss black for the exterior trim as well as side skirts and wider wheel arches, along with a twin-wing roof spoiler.

Inside there’s Alcantara elements in the upholstery and the front sports seat feature eight adjustment options – so you can fiddle with them forever.

Available to order now in the region, with first deliveries starting in August this year, it has a starting price of $91,608 (AED 336,200).
