Jaguar’s been busy for the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition – China Auto Expo – with the debut of the XJ Ultimate, the announcement of two new petrol engines and more details of the forthcoming F-Type sports car.
XJ Ultimate
XJ Ultimate features changes to the exterior and interior concentrating on luxury particularly for rear passengers. It includes individual rear seats with electric adjustment and massage, plus electrically folding tables (made from solid aluminium), integrated iPad functionality, enhanced entertainment systems and a champagne chiller.
Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar, added: “The XJ Ultimate is a car for individuals who understand the value of discretion. The design changes offer subtly stylish clues as to its bespoke interior environment.”
New four- and six-cylinder engines
Two new engines have also been announced, initially for use in XF and XJ model ranges.
The first is a four-cylinder 2.0-litre turbocharged engine producing 240bhp, and the second is a 3.0-litre V6 supercharged. But use forced-induction and will be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
F-Type spec
The same V6 will appear in the forthcoming F-Type in 380bhp form – the F-Type was announced in the New York show earlier this year, and is based on the C-X16 concept. It’s set to go on sale mid-2013.
