2013 Ford Taurus SHO

The new facelifted 2013 Ford Taurus has just gone on sale throughout the region with a lineup of four-models, all equipped with 3.5-litre V6 engines, including the performance-orientated SHO version.

A 288bhp version of the V6 with 254lb ft of torque is offered in the SE, SEL and Limited series models priced at AED99k ($26,900), AED125k ($34k) and AED149k ($40,500) respectively.

Twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT), is said to improved power (10% up on the 2012 car) and economy.

The SHO model gets a 365bhp twin-turbocharged EcoBoost version of the V6 plus all-wheel drive with peak torque of 350lb ft from 1500-5250rpm. It has a 0-96kph time of 5.2seconds and a top speed limited to 214kph. Fuel economy is quoted at 9.4L/100km if you’re interested.

The AWD system features an array of mechanical clutches that engage and disengage unobtrusively to efficiently distribute torque to the wheels with optimum traction, essentially like torque vectoring control seen on some high end sports cars. Price is AED180k ($48,900) for the SHO.

The SYNC with MyFord Touch systems in the Explorer and Edge, are now also fitted to the Taurus featuring LCD screens and steering wheel-mounted five-way toggles. These screens can be personalized to display information relevant to each driver by using voice command.
