2014 Detroit Auto Show: Mercedes S600
Flagship super Benz bows in Detroit
By Shahzad Sheikh
Maybach is history – welcome the Mercedes-Benz S600 – the last word in lavish luxury from the three-pointed star.
The big Benz features a V12 biturbo with 530bhp from the heavily modified 6.0-litre giving it a 0-100kph time of 4.6 seconds but this plush cruiser is not about performance.
It’s loaded with tech including Intelligenty Light System, Magic Body Control suspension with Road Surface Scan and Driver Assistance Package with Active Lane Keeping, Active Blind Spot, Cross-Traffic Assist, Steer Control, Stop&GO, Pre-Safe brake and the list goes on and on…
This goes on sale in March. At the same time the rest of the range will also get upgrades including fingertip gesture control touchpad, handwriting recognition.
Plus a head-up display and an upgraded version of Collision Prevention Assist – the car can brake itself from 200kph – and can somehow even prevent rear-end collisions up to 40kph.
