Mini’s 10th year in the Middle East celebrated with launch of new Coupe

Champ cuts big cake to mark little car’s first decade in the region

Mini celebrated the 10th anniversary of the little car (the new version not the classic obviously) in the Middle East at the Dubai International Motor Show by cutting an appropriately liveried cake on its stand. And they got none other than Mini-owner and fan, Fabio Cannavaro, Al Ahli Football Club’s Technical Director and Italy’s 2006 FIFA World Cup winning captain to cut the cake.

And the MINI Coupe was there…

Joining him on the stand though was Mini’s latest addition to the growing Middle East line-up – the new Coupe – a two-seater sports car with Mini styling and lots of get-up-and-go. First shown at the recent Mini festival at the Dubai Autodrome, it’s the fifth Mini brand model.

It comes with the 122bhp engine for the Cooper version, 184bhp for the Cooper S and 211bhp for the John Cooper Works edition. Also on the stand is the Mini Paceman concept car from the Detroit motor show earlier this year. Dubbed a ‘Mini muscle car’ it combine styling cues from the Countryman and the new Coupe.

Sarah Klippert, MINI Manager for BMW Group Middle East said: “The MINI family is out in full strength to demonstrate the great tradition and the progression of the MINI brand. Each car boasts unique design details and of course incorporates the very best in performance; handling and safety. From the racing heritage encapsulated by the MINI Coupe to the visionary design in the form of the MINI Paceman, the MINI product range has grown over the last 10 years from just one model to five now, and more exciting models are still yet to come!”
