Rolls-Royce Thoroughbred Phantom Coupe – homage to horseracing

All the jockey colours inlaid into the interior – for wealthy, hard-core horseracing fans only (wonder who that could be?)

Rolls-Royce Motors CEO, Torsten Müller-Ötvös, flew in to introduce the line-up on the stand including the Thoroughbred Phantom Coupe, described as a ‘homage to the sport of kings – horseracing’.

The inlaid veneers represents 35 winning colours of the jockey silks during the recent Glorious Goodwood week of horseracing in the UK (Rolls-Royce is also situated in Goodwood). The prestigious British marque, claims the warm colour palette, subtle hand-stitching and other bespoke features will resonate with the horse-racing culture in the Middle East.

Obviously the UAE has deep and long-standing connections with horse-racing in the UK, and I did notice that H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, who officially opened the show, spent rather a long time on the Rolls-Royce stand. I guess that’s one special edition Phantom Coupe that’s already sold!

Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, said, “The Gulf is an important market for Rolls-Royce, with robust sales being seen across all models. The region continues to hold the number one position in the world for Rolls-Royce Bespoke revenue per car, reflecting the sophisticated, highly discerning customers that Rolls-Royce attracts.”
